Day 5
Remember
Yesterday was our final day of Holiday Club, and what a beautiful way it was to end the week.
Our theme for the day was Remember. Tucker reminded the children of God’s faithfulness throughout the story of Esther and encouraged them to remember how God rescued His people from Haman’s evil plan. But the lesson didn’t stop there, it pointed them to the greatest rescue of all: the salvation we have through Jesus. Just as God’s people were called to remember what He had done, we too are called to remember His goodness, His faithfulness, and the hope we have because of Christ.
One of my favorite parts of the day was watching Tucker review everything the children had learned throughout the week. I was genuinely amazed by how much they remembered. They eagerly recited memory verses, answered questions from the Bible stories, and recalled truths they had learned since Monday. It was such an encouragement to see that these lessons weren’t just heard, but they were taking root.
What has impacted me most this week is the openness of these children. They aren’t afraid to ask questions. They genuinely want to know more about Jesus. One child, in particular, kept asking thoughtful questions throughout the lesson, and every question reflected a heart searching for truth. It was such a sweet reminder that God is drawing people to Himself, and it was a blessing to witness that hunger firsthand.
We also began our morning with a devotional led by Imani, which helped prepare our hearts before stepping into another day of ministry. It was a beautiful reminder that before we pour into others, we first need to be filled ourselves.
As always, the day was full of games, singing, dancing, laughter, and so much joy. These children have an incredible ability to fill every space with energy and smiles!
As I reflect on this week, I leave with a deep sense of hope. I know God is doing a good work in Langa. He sees every child, knows every story, and loves this community far more than we ever could. Although Holiday Club has come to an end, I trust that the seeds planted this week will continue to grow. Please continue praying for these children, and for the YearBeyond leaders, that they would remember what they have learned, and heard, that they would continue to seek Jesus, and one day place their faith fully in Him.
What a blessing it has been to witness God’s faithfulness this week.
