Why Jordan?
Jordan is a land where ancient civilizations lived their lives in sand, and in more recent times, it has also become home to over 1.3 million refugees. In 2014, Marka Church launched an in-house project inspired by Pastor Haytham to support and create safe homes for Syrian and Iraqi refugees fleeing ISIS. Christians faced the choice of converting to Islam or seeking refuge elsewhere. Many found safety in Jordan, and Marka Church began finding ways to love and serve them.

Marka Church
Founded in 2004, Marka Church emerged from a shared commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of refugees. the founder, Haytham Mazahreh, recognized the need for a holistic approach to refugee assistance that goes beyond immediate aid to foster long-term self-sufficiency and empowerment.
“At Marka church, our mission is to empower refugees to rebuild their lives with dignity and purpose. Through a range of programs and initiatives, we aim to create opportunities for refugees to thrive, find healing, and contribute positively to society.”

At Marka church, our vision is to create a nurturing environment where refugees can flourish, find their voice, and build a brighter future for themselves and their communities. We aspire to be a beacon of hope and opportunity for refugees, fostering a sense of belonging and empowerment.
