Pastor Joseph continued the Psalms of Ascents series with a message from Psalm 133, highlighting the beauty and blessing of unity among God’s people. He explained that biblical unity is both “good and pleasant” because it reflects God’s design for His people to live in harmony and deep relationship with one another. Unity is not superficial agreement, but a Christ-centered bond rooted in truth, humility, peace, and love.

Using the imagery of oil flowing down Aaron’s beard and dew descending from Mount Hermon, the sermon showed that unity is a gift that comes down from God. Just as oil symbolized consecration and blessing, and dew brought refreshment and life, so unity strengthens and renews God’s people. It is not something we manufacture on our own, but something God gives through His grace.

The message also emphasized that unity is made possible through Jesus Christ. Sin brought alienation from God and division among people, but through Christ’s death and resurrection, believers are reconciled to God and to one another. The church’s unity becomes a witness to the world, displaying the love of Christ and offering a foretaste of the day when God will make all things new.

Pastor Joseph challenged the congregation to actively preserve unity by rejecting pride, jealousy, gossip, and selfish ambition. Instead, believers are called to pursue reconciliation, value one another above personal preferences, and love one another deeply. He concluded by praying that Calvary Baptist Church would be known as a place where people can truly say, “Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity.”
