Continuing our study through Galatians, this message examines Galatians 3:26–29 and the believer’s identity and unity in Christ. Paul teaches that through faith in Jesus Christ, believers become children of God and heirs to the promises given to Abraham. Our relationship with God is not based on ethnicity, social standing, gender, or obedience to the law, but entirely on faith in Christ.

Being united with Christ gives believers a new primary identity. The distinctions between Jew and Gentile, slave and free, and male and female remain, but they no longer determine our standing before God. In Christ, these differences take a back seat to our shared identity as God’s children. Union with Christ therefore brings unity among all who belong to Him.

This unity should shape the life of the church. Rather than comparing ourselves, seeking superiority, or allowing differences to divide us, believers are called to love and serve one another with humility, kindness, dignity, and respect. The church displays the beauty of the Gospel when people from different backgrounds come together as brothers and sisters, treating one another as equals because of their shared relationship with Christ.

Ultimately, our circumstances, accomplishments, and differences do not define us—Christ does. Those who are in Christ belong to God’s family, are strengthened by His Spirit, and are being transformed into the likeness of Jesus.
