Pastor Joseph concludes his Psalms of Ascent sermon series with a message from Psalm 134 centered on humanity’s purpose: to glorify God through worship and to live as recipients and bearers of His blessing. Reflecting on the pilgrims’ journey to Jerusalem, he explained how these psalms shaped God’s people through repentance, trust, unity, and worship as they traveled toward God’s presence.
The sermon highlighted Psalm 134 as both a call to worship and a benediction. Worship was described not as escapism from life’s struggles, but as bringing burdens, anxieties, sins, and hardships before the God who is both Creator and Redeemer. Pastor Joseph emphasized that to “bless the Lord” means to acknowledge God’s greatness, goodness, and worthiness, while God’s blessing toward His people bestows grace, value, and life upon them.
The message also focused on the believer’s identity in Christ. Jesus fulfills everything symbolized in the temple, priesthood, and Zion, making it possible for believers to approach God and receive every spiritual blessing. Worship was presented as a whole-life response that extends beyond Sunday gatherings into work, relationships, creativity, service, and daily living. Pastor Joseph reminded the congregation that Christians are blessed not only to enjoy God’s presence, but also to become channels of blessing to others through love, generosity, service, and Gospel witness.
Concluding the sermon, Pastor Joseph encouraged the church to live as worshipers shaped by God’s presence and empowered to bless the world around them. Through Christ, believers are restored to their created purpose, assured of God’s presence now, and given hope for the day when all creation will fully worship Him forever.
